Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, seeks candidates for the Eslick Chair of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy. Appointment to begin Fall of 2024.
AOS and AOC: Open. Rank upon appointment: tenured Associate or Full Professor.
Duties of the Eslick Chair:
- Scholarship: The Eslick Chair will be a highly productive scholar, enhancing the department’s standing in the profession.
- Teaching: Normally, the Eslick chair will teach one course per semester, and at least one graduate seminar per year.
- Graduate mentoring: direction of PhD dissertations and MA theses, and service on some dissertation and thesis committees directed by others.
- Leadership in department, college, and university service.
Qualified applicants must:
- Hold a PhD degree or equivalent in philosophy
- Possess a strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship
- Show strong evidence of an ongoing research agenda
- Have a proven track record or significant promise as a mentor of graduate students
- Show evidence of leadership
- Be able to advance the University’s Catholic Jesuit mission
