JOB SUMMARY
The Saint Louis University Division of Development Email Marketing Specialist is responsible for optimizing campaigns and messaging related to giving, stewardship, and alumni engagement, including content development, editing, segmentation, building/deployment, testing, and analysis.
Working with the Director of Communication and other team members, this position develops and maintains an overall email communication calendar, monitors and analyzes the division’s flow of email communications to constituents, and actively contributes to developing new efforts to attract and retain donors and engage alumni.
JOB DUTIES
Manages the email communication calendar and coordinating/timing communications across stakeholder groups using industry best practices related to performance and engagement.
Responds to requests for new email campaigns.
Optimizes the performance of all emails, conducting A/B testing, and tracking analytics, and recommending process improvements.
Assists in the creation of user-centered email templates that are effective, accessible, and responsive.
Assists in developing audience strategies and identifying opportunities to segment audiences based on user behavior and activity.
Troubleshooting and optimizing underperforming messaging and campaigns.
Regularly uses analytics to create dashboards, identify trends, and report campaign performance to key stakeholders.
Creation of training materials and tools related to email marketing as needed to support stakeholders.
Upholds Saint Louis University’s brand standard across all platforms.
Supports larger projects as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Superior copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills. Knowledge of Associated Press writing style is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in email marketing tools/drag-and-drop drop-editors. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and email automation/customization preferred.
Knowledge of email marketing best practices and legal requirements.
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, including Google Analytics and Excel proficiency
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field and three to five years of professional marketing experience designing, executing, and evaluating high-volume email campaigns.
Experience working in higher education or development environments is preferred.
