  • Global and Regional Marketing/Regional Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC), Media, Sponsorship, Consumer Leads, B2B, cross-functional business partners, and our top core agency suppliers and consultants.


The Global Agency Relations Director role will be responsible for partnering with global, regional, and local marketing teams, as well as our key agency partners and industry consultants to drive results, best practices, and efficiencies, while maintaining an audit free environment.


This role is ideal for an organized, inspirational, influential, and solution-focused leader with deep subject matter expertise in marketing and advertising. The candidate should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams across different time zones.


The role is a balance of strategy, partnership development, practical execution, and as such, is ideal for an innovator and thought leader. This role puts you at the center of a team leading an iconic brand who are executing groundbreaking work and looking to transform the way we operate.


The Leader will manage our three core global agencies (Creative & Strategy, Media, and Sponsorships & Events) to disseminate industry best practices and the experience to help shape decisions pertaining to key aspects of the organizations’ agency stewardship efforts, including defining KPIs and benchmarks, driving thought leadership, prioritizing business/marketing strategies to streamline processes, and driving efficiencies and effectiveness for regions.


General


  • Single point of contact for agency partners on day-to-day business management issues and maintaining a healthy partnership
  • Communicate and consult with senior leaders of the marketing teams to understand their marketing objectives and how the agency management programs should align with their priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, such as Sourcing, legal, finance and compliance as needed to execute agency engagement strategy.
  • Be a champion for agency programs and excellence across Integrated Marketing Communications team at Mastercard.
  • Drive efficiencies and streamline processes.


Global Agency Relations Specific


  • Global Agency relationship management
  • Client / Agency relations industry best practices / trends
  • Understand agency compensation models.
  • Understand Agency Operations: Manage and track agency reports: i.e., FTE / FEE cadence, aging reports, cash flow, AVB’s, etc.
  • Drive yearly scope of work / retainer process, supporting +50 markets for our key suppliers.
  • Work closely with Legal and Sourcing on contract management and improvements to current MSA (Master Service agreement) to stay compliant and up to date.
  • Partner with compliance teams on annual external agency audits
  • Understand our U.S. Solidarity mission and tracking our supplier diversity program.
  • Represent Mastercard at industry marketing communities: The American National Advertising Associations (ANA) and WFA (World Federal Association)


Performance Management


  • Drive the 2x a year agency evaluations process; help marketers get the most value from the results of the evaluations, ensuring that results are delivered, discussed with agency and action plans are created and monitored to drive identified improvements.
  • Develop and implement the Agency evaluation communication plan to all key stakeholders.
  • Continuously refine the performance management process to optimize the program (e.g., Utilize best practices, industry benchmarks and Key Indicators / incentive program. (McCann and Carat)
  • Continue to ensure incentive programs are meeting the business need.


Financial Management


  • Manage our team’s budget and open team PO’s
  • Track, accrue, forecast, and interface with Finance team.
  • Attend CMO biweekly finance community meeting.
  • Drive the efficiencies program with Finance team - collect any value add, asset reuse, production savings


Production Management


  • The goal is to streamline the production process for efficiency, greater transparency, SME knowledge, tighter integration and to eliminate duplication of efforts and be able to track, measure and report progress to make MA production best in class.
  • Partner with production consultant and advertising supplier on all production (TV, Social, Digital), track, measure and report spend, efficiencies etc.
  • Run monthly production calls.
  • Oversee large Productions bid / ensure triple bids.
  • Oversee asset reuse process, ensuring markets are leveraging existing resources rather than creating new.
  • Track, measure report savings / efficiencies and ensure we are within benchmark by market to Mastercard.
  • Integrate with the Marketing sustainability manager to ensure sustainability is included in every production, making Mastercard #1 in this space.


Qualifications


  • MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing or Business Operations managing large Global supplier’s experience.
  • A deep understanding of the advertising industry
  • Global proven partnership execution and delivery
  • Thought Leader and proven innovator driving agency efficiencies.
  • Strong influential, partnership and liaison skills
  • Proven ability and understanding of media, production, and sponsorships.
  • Experience leading large scale integrated projects / process that cut across pan-regional/global/local markets.
  • Ability to craft messages and articulate strategy to drive alignment and inspire change with Suppliers.
  • Strong project management skills – ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be initiative-taking and flexible, a team player able to work in a fluid environment with changing priorities.
  • Deliver ongoing market level analyses and reporting to ensure key guidelines adhered to
