THE POSITION
The Payroll Tax Manager is responsible for managing three payroll tax administrators and reports to the Payroll Tax Director. The Payroll Tax Team is responsible for federal, state and local tax matters for approximately 8,500 US employees across three pay frequencies. Eyecare Partners is a growing company utilizing Ceridian Dayforce for HR, Payroll and Tax filing with a presence in 35 states across 52 active FEINs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide strategic leadership for prior and future payroll integrations due to acquisition
· Partner with the payroll operations team to ensure accurate and timely payroll by meeting all deadlines and communicating tax related impacts
· Create, monitor and actively resolve tax-related Dayforce support portal ticket requests
· Support and/or implement department policies, procedures and internal controls for complete and accurate payroll tax processing
· Manage tax registrations, notices, amendments and audit requests
· Monitor and communicate the tax team’s performance through KPIs
· Ensure quarter end and year end activities are completed timely with an organized plan detailing milestones and deadlines
· Lead a cross-functional year end project plan to ensure a successful year end
· Research, analyze, and evaluate tax changes for impact to employees
· Research and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with employees and other departments with questions, concerns or requests regarding payroll taxes
· Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
THE CANDIDATE
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· 10+ years of payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred
· Experience leading payroll and/or payroll tax team
· Experience filing payroll tax amendments
· Experience with multiple FEINs, multiple states, state reciprocity and W-2s
· Knowledgeable with Sarbanes-Oxley controls
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to prioritize workload and communicate risks
· Proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
· Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
· Experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred
