The Role:
The IT Business Analyst is responsible for the support of ophthalmology applications, and the implementation and optimization of the practice management and electronic medical record system. Under the direction of leadership, they are responsible for integrating, documenting and supporting the PMS and EMR system through various phases of project implementations. They must understand workflow and interdependencies with medical practice management and electronic health record systems and will participate in future upgrades, internal medical practice communications and training curricula development.
Essential Responsibilities
· Identifies areas of common practice and implements opportunities for standardization.
· Works with end users and clinical network groups to encourage maximum usage of applications.
· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of electronic health record applications/system(s).
· Coordinates application enhancements by identifying needs, analyzing benefits, identifying process changes and the impact of enhancements within the parameters of governance standards.
· Supports legacy clinical systems and other information system applications as needed.
· Supports end users across the system for application support and optimization.
· Assists with the development of test scripts and plans.
· Assists with the development of training content and appropriate training data.
· Participates in configuring/maintaining all necessary documentation and other components/activities that impact governance and regulatory requirements.
· Ensures that data interfacing into applications meets business and clinical needs – both for ongoing interfaces and one-time data conversions.
· Works with other Ophthalmology clinical applications to identify ways in which those applications can support workflow and configure/build the application accordingly.
· Analyzes users’ jobs in order to make recommendations regarding application security.
· Understands the databases required for implementation/maintenance of modules.
· Creates positive change management and communication with end users to ensure their acceptance of the applications.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in IT, healthcare, finance, or related field
· At least 2 years of experience with the healthcare/NexGen, IT, or business field
· At least 2 years of experience with SQL
Experience with PMS and EMR is required
· Must have clinical or operational knowledge of workflows and interdependencies with the electronic health record and practice management software.
· Possesses a solid knowledge of information technology and information systems.
· Basic project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, and execute to project plan).
